Maintaining a healthy work-life balance has many benefits including improved well-being, increased productivity and greater success in your professional and personal life. While each individual’s ideal work-life balance will depend on their own goals and stage of life, at United Gas & Power (UGP) we believe that as an employer, we have a responsibility to provide our people with an environment that helps them realise their full potential by promoting a happy working environment, striking the perfect balance between work and personal life.
Our annual confidential employment survey helps us to identify how we can support and help our people to develop, limit stress and maintain a happy workplace. In 2019, following the survey results, we introduced structured personal training & development plans for everyone in the business, increased annual leave and introduced new working hours that better fit with the needs of our people.
During this year’s “International Week of Happiness at Work” we’ll be focusing on yet more initiatives that will enhance the culture of happiness at UGP, starting today with the launch of a holiday purchase scheme to add an additional 5 days annual leave (on top of the standard 25), and spread the cost of these days over a full 12 months.
We’ve signed the #InternationalWeekofHappinessatWork manifesto and we’re encouraging other businesses to do the same. Click the link below for more information and to sign the manifesto.
