A Day on the Greens: UGP’s First Corporate Golf Day at Howley Hall

On Thursday, May 16th, Howley Hall Golf Course in Morley was the picturesque setting for UGP’s inaugural Corporate Golf Day. The weather Gods smiled upon us, turning a forecast of rain into a sun-kissed day perfect for golf. This event brought together 16 enthusiastic players from 10 different energy brokers, alongside our dedicated UGP team, for a day of friendly competition, networking, and fun.

The Day Unfolds

10:00 AM – Orientation:

The day began with a warm welcome and orientation session led by Kirk Mavraki from our TPI team. Kirk outlined the day’s agenda, introduced the live leaderboard tracking, and encouraged everyone to enjoy the day.

11:00 AM – First Tee Time:

With the formalities out of the way, it was time for the real action. The first group teed off at 11:04 AM, followed by five other groups. Each group kept their scores while enjoying the beautiful course and the camaraderie.

Throughout the Day:

As players navigated the course, UGP provided refreshments at strategic pit stops on the 3rd, 10th, and 15th holes. Bananas, crisps, chocolate, waters, energy drinks, beers, and non-alcoholic beers ensured everyone stayed energised and hydrated.

Highlights of the day included an impressive 42-foot putt by Mike Andrews from Auditel, captured in our video reel, and a phenomenal 306-yard drive by Paul Williams from Impact Metering, winning him the longest drive competition.

Despite their best efforts, none of the participants managed to “Beat the Pro” on the 18th hole challenge for closest to the pin, making it a fun yet formidable task.

The Awards Ceremony

Around 4:15 PM, players returned to the clubhouse for the awards ceremony. Here, American Golf vouchers, trophies, and golf merchandise were handed out to the top performers. The winners were:

1st Place: Steve Kemp from Brownlow Utilities

2nd Place: Mike Andrews from Auditel

3rd Place: Dan Jones from Inteb

Additional awards were given for the top scorer in each 4-ball group, the longest drive, and other standout performances throughout the day.

Dinner and Networking

At 5:00 PM, everyone gathered for dinner and drinks, providing a perfect opportunity to reflect on the day, share stories, and strengthen business relationships. Conversations flowed easily as everyone bonded over their shared experiences on the greens.

As the evening wound down, attendees began to head home, with some staying as late as 8:30 PM to continue networking and enjoy the relaxed atmosphere.

A Successful First Event

Our first ever UGP Corporate Golf Day was a resounding success, thanks in large part to the enthusiasm and participation of our clients and partners. The combination of friendly competition, stunning scenery, and great company made it a day to remember. We’re already looking forward to next year’s event and building on the wonderful foundation laid this year.

Thank you to everyone who participated and helped make this day special. We can’t wait to see you on the greens again soon!
