Stepping Up for Health: How Our May Challenge Brought Us Together
May is always a special month, not just because the flowers are blooming and the days are getting warmer, but because it’s Mental Health Awareness Month—a perfect time to focus on our well-being. This year, we decided to introduce a Steps Challenge at our business, encouraging everyone to get moving and improve their health.
A Walk on the Wild Side: Teams and Togetherness
To shake things up, we mixed up our teams to include colleagues from every corner of the business. This led to some interesting collaborations and new connections. 77% of participants said this helped them reconnect with people from around the company. Who knew that a shared goal of racking up steps could also rack up conversations and camaraderie?
Stepping Towards Better Health
The benefits of our Steps Challenge went beyond just rekindling workplace friendships. A whopping 84% of participants reported that the challenge positively impacted their physical health. Whether it was a brisk morning walk, a lunchtime hike, or an evening run, our teams embraced the opportunity to move more and sit less.
But wait, there’s more! The positive vibes weren’t just limited to physical health. 71% of our steppers said the challenge had a beneficial impact on their mental health. The fresh air, the sense of achievement, and maybe even the occasional runner’s high played a role in lifting spirits and reducing stress.
Habits that Stick
One of the most heartening stats to come out of our feedback is that 75% of participants felt their habits had changed for good. They’re now more inclined to take longer walks and keep their step counts high, even without the lure of competition. It seems that the challenge has planted the seeds for lasting healthy habits.
Looking to the Future: More Challenges Ahead
Given the fantastic feedback and the noticeable positive impacts, we’re excited to announce that this is just the beginning. We’re already brainstorming more challenges to keep the momentum going. Whether it’s more steps, bike rides, or even yoga sessions, we’re committed to supporting the physical and mental well-being of our people.
So, here’s to moving more, connecting more, and feeling better together. Keep your eyes peeled for the next big challenge, and until then, keep stepping!
