Women Powering the Future: A Conversation with Chloe Hollins
Welcome to the second instalment of our International Women’s Day blog series, where we spotlight the women shaping UGP—and the wider energy sector. This time, we’re honoured to feature Chloe Hollins, Major Accounts Development Manager at UGP. In her role, Chloe focuses on refining internal processes to maximise value for some of our biggest customers. But her journey into the energy world goes far deeper than her official title.
From her early passion for protecting the planet to her leadership role today, Chloe’s story is one of steady growth, guided by mentors who helped her find the courage to speak up and take action.
Championing Change from the Inside Out
“I wanted to try and contribute to making changes to help reduce the damage fossil fuels do on the planet…and to take action from the inside.”
Early in her career, Chloe recognised the profound impact of fossil fuels on climate change. Determined to make a tangible difference, she chose a path that would let her tackle the issue head-on. Working in energy, for her, was the most direct route to instigating real, lasting change.
Today, she’s a driving force behind projects that make businesses more energy-efficient, but also an advocate for wider sustainability efforts—from reducing carbon footprints to shaping a future workforce that’s well-informed on renewable energy.
A Journey Fuelled by Mentorship
“I never really saw myself as a leader, but from the guidance and mentorship of women who were in those positions before me, I have gained so much more than just skills and knowledge.”
Chloe began in analytical support roles, originally unsure of her own capacity to lead. Over the course of 11 years in the industry, she learned to trust her ideas and tackle responsibilities she once doubted she could handle. The turning point was meeting and learning from women who reminded her that she belongs in these spaces.
Now, as a Major Accounts Development Manager, Chloe speaks confidently with multiple departments, researches external best practices, and champions new solutions at UGP. Her story illustrates how seeing more women at in managerial positions fosters fresh ambition in those just starting out.
Inspiring the Next Generation
“One of the most rewarding projects I’ve been involved in is a children’s school program…seeing their enthusiasm and curiosity gives me hope for a more sustainable future.”
Chloe doesn’t just talk about educating others—she rolls up her sleeves and does it. Working on a school program about renewable energy brought her immense fulfilment and renewed her faith in the next generation’s capacity to lead on sustainability. Whether discussing solar panels or energy conservation, sparking curiosity in students made clear that the future lies in their hands.
Overcoming Challenges & Embracing Inclusion
“Like many women in male-dominated industries, I’ve encountered moments where I had to prove my expertise. Overcoming these challenges meant staying confident, continuously developing my skills, and building strong professional networks.”
While Chloe recognises that industries like energy are making strides in diversity, the journey isn’t yet complete. She gives credit to supportive colleagues and mentors for creating an environment where she can voice her ideas openly. Initiatives like women’s mentorship programs, internal leadership opportunities, and inclusive work cultures all contribute to narrowing the gender gap.
UGP’s commitment to inclusion—whether through championing women-centric charities or building an SLT with over 50% women—feeds Chloe’s optimism that real change is happening.
Advice for Future Women leaders in Energy
“Be confident in your abilities, seek out mentors, and never be afraid to ask questions…what you want to achieve is possible, even if you can’t see it.”
According to Chloe, every woman in energy should remember that the lack of existing role models doesn’t mean their own ambitions are unrealistic. The willingness to keep learning, plus the determination to push boundaries, is often the difference between stagnation and growth.
In her eyes, it’s vital to connect with peers, swap insights, and support one another through evolving career goals—because nobody succeeds in isolation.
Looking Ahead: More Voices, More Momentum
“I hope to see continued advancements in renewable energy, smarter technology, and even greater diversity within the industry.”
The energy sector changes at an incredible pace, and Chloe is excited to see it become an even more inclusive and forward-thinking field. Whether it’s adopting new renewable technologies or ensuring that women have a seat at the table, she believes the future looks brighter than ever before.
