As a leading commercial energy supplier in the UK renowned for our rapid growth and excellent service ratings, we are seeking to appoint an Operations Analyst in Settlements and Billing at our office in Guiseley, Leeds.

The Settlement Analyst - Operations is crucial in ensuring the integrity of our billing and settlement processes. This role encompasses the responsibility of working the Billed vs Settled reports, the reconciliation of billing discrepancies, and the meticulous validation of industry settlements and metering data. Reporting directly to the Operations Manager, the incumbent will be instrumental in upholding regulatory compliance, streamlining operational efficiency, and supporting continuous improvement initiatives.

  • Settlement and Reconciliation
    • Analyse and work the Billed vs Settled reports, perform daily analysis to identify discrepancies.
    • Proactively resolve settlement discrepancies, including AQ appeals, and manage the submission and resolution of reads, while addressing industry read rejections.
    • Own the daily operational tasks of ensuring accuracy in settlement figures, including working with D0001s and D0002s data flows and D0004s processes.
    • Maintain the integrity of metering data, investigating issues, and liaising with relevant parties, such as Xoserve and Ensek, to ensure billing alignment.
    • Monitor the recovery of kWh to ensure accurate billing, with monthly tracking and reporting responsibilities.
    • Ensure compliance with industry settlement targets, carrying out weekly reviews, and maintaining oversight to drive continuous performance improvement.
  • Industry Compliance and Audits
    • Actively participate in the preparation of the Annual BSC Audit process, including liaising with auditors, conducting risk analysis, and completing the pre-site visit questionnaire.
    • Coordinate the annual audit and any necessary follow-up actions, ensuring full compliance with regulatory standards.
    • Handle ad hoc tasks such as MAP04 processes, ensuring the company’s actions align with industry regulations.
  • Billing Operations
    • Validate MRA invoices on a monthly basis, ensuring accuracy and rectifying any detected errors.
    • Request and validate meter readings where necessary in accordance with industry timescales.
    • Investigate and reconcile duplicate MAM charges, ensuring billing accuracy and customer satisfaction.
  • Reporting and Analysis
    • Contribute to the enhancement of the settlements and billing processes, recommending process improvements based on thorough analysis and reporting.
  • Communication and Collaboration
    • Facilitate clear communication between all relevant stakeholders, including meter asset managers, data collectors/aggregators, and industry bodies.
    • Work collaboratively with internal teams to support customer queries related to metering and billing, providing expertise and ensuring resolution.

The Individual

  • Relevant work experience in the UK energy sector.
  • Proven experience with energy settlements, billing, and data management.
  • Knowledge of industry data flows (D0001s, D0002s, D0004s) and the BSC market arrangements.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and organisational skills.
  • Proficiency in relevant software systems and tools.
  • Strong communication skills, with the ability to liaise with both internal teams and external stakeholders.
  • Self-starter with a commitment to continuous improvement and quality standards.
