Founded in 1979, Age Concern supports older people across its local community through retail shops, care services and practical day-to-day help. The charity now operates fifteen retail sites alongside additional care and support facilities.

Financial discipline sits at the heart of the organisation as part of its charitable duty. Ultimately, any reduction in overheads strengthens the services older people rely on.

Energy needed to be reliable, well priced and easy to manage across every location.

UGP was able to offer us an annual saving in excess of £4,500. We secured a 3 year contract with them as the service that UGP offer is far better than anyone else.

Five suppliers and staggered renewals created unnecessary administrative pressure

Before partnering with UGP, Age Concern’s energy was spread across five different suppliers. As a result, contract end dates were staggered and billing formats varied, causing difficulty in maintaining clear views of overall spend.

Reviewing invoices and keeping track of renewals required time the team would rather devote to community work. The charity desired better value, clearer oversight and a more structured approach across all sites.

Eighteen sites consolidated under one charity tariff with aligned contract dates

UGP reviewed the full portfolio and designed a single charity tariff covering eighteen locations. The proposal delivered an annual saving of more than £4,500 and came in sixteen percent lower than the nearest alternative quote.

Contract end dates were then aligned so future renewals could be planned with confidence. Billing was standardised to fit the charity’s internal processes, which were easier to review and reconcile when invoices arrived.

A named account manager became the simple point of contact, providing guidance and resolving queries quickly. The full transition was managed directly, ensuring supply remained steady across shops and care facilities.

Having one Account Manager for multiple sites gives us a direct point of contact and saves us time. We strongly recommend UGP to other charities.

£4,500 annual savings delivered alongside clearer financial oversight

Age Concern now operates under one clear energy framework that supports both financial control and daily efficiency. This means the portfolio is easier to oversee, renewals are planned in advance, and invoices follow a consistent format that fits comfortably into the charity’s processes.

The annual savings achieved are redirected straight back into frontline services, helping protect and extend the support offered to older people in the community. UGP is particularly proud of this outcome.

After bringing five suppliers into one structured agreement, Age Concern gained financial clarity and dependable support across all locations.

Energy now complements the organisation’s careful stewardship of resources and its commitment to the people it serves.
